Strictly Come Dancing
Series 11 of Strictly Come Dancing is in its seventh week. Strictly is a BBC Television programme which is broadcast every year before Christmas. It involves celebrities partnering professional dancers who teach them a dance every week. The show is live every Saturday evening and the celebrities and their partners dance in front of four judges, a live audience as well as the public at home. The judges, Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Darcy Bussel and Bruno Tonioli give feedback and then score the celebrities’ dances out of forty. The show is presented by Tess Daly and Sir Bruce Forsyth. The public also vote for their favourite dancers by phone and on Sunday evening, a Results Show is shown where two couples dance again and the judges vote off the worst dancer of the two.
There are a range of dances which the celebrities learn, from Latin dances such as the salsa, samba and jJive, to the slower ballroom dances such as the waltz and American smooth. My personal favourite thing about watching Strictly Come Dancing is seeing the different beautiful outfits that they all wear, especially the female celebrities and professional dancers. The outfits are made from scratch every week and are made to suit the dancer, the dance, the song and the story being told through the dance. I think all the dresses look very gorgeous every week. The make-up is also fabulous. Lots of celebrities, mainly those famous in the U.K. have participated in Strictly Come Dancing since it was first shown in 2004. BBC newsreaders, singers, actors and sportsmen and women have all participated in the show and they seem to really enjoy the experience.
I like being able to snuggle on the sofa every weekend and watch Strictly Come Dancing with my mum. It’s a great family show and is really entertaining. I enjoy watching the really beautiful slow ballroom dances and the colourful, energetic latin dances. It’s brilliant to see the celebrities progress week after week.
