Tips for being a super-organised student

posted 2 hours ago by Amy

I have always admired students who hand their homework in on time and never forget to do it. Me, on the other hand, … OK, I admit. I’m terrible at getting myself organised!

But lately I’ve started keeping a small study diary. I write down everything I need to do and when it needs to be done by. Then I write a reminder a few days before the date just in case. It’s helping.

So I was wondering, what are your tips for getting organised? Post a comment below. I’m hoping we can all share some tips to teach us all better study skills.

Good question, Amy. I always spend about five minutes at the end of the day tidying up the desktop on my computer. I make a backup of important documents. I delete things I don’t need any more and put everything into the correct folder.

Nice tip, Hana. I think it’s a good idea to do a little bit of tidying up every day. Then it becomes a habit and your desktop is always organised.

The most important thing is to start studying a few weeks before the exams and not leave it until the night before! That’s just common sense, I think.

Thanks, Gloria! I agree.

Hi, Amy. My tip is to have a big noticeboard in your bedroom, divided into different sections. I’ve got one. It’s a whiteboard. I’ve got a section for each school subject and another one for other stuff. I use board pens to write reminders and I make sure I look at it every day. The best part is when I remove something from the board!

Great tip, Lou. I’ve got a cork board with pins. I use it in the same way.

My tip as a orginasied student is to plan your day so you can have time to study after school and do other such of things after school. A calander is something I would recommend that will help you get track on further exams and just have your whole day even more orginased.

Hi Samduykhanh!
This text is about a blog post where Amy has shared her tips for studying and she asks if anyone else has some tips to share. Hana, Gloria and Lou all then share their ideas for studying. Do you have any that you can share with us?

I use a small notebook that I write all my homework. Then I never wait to finish it. If the subject is hard I try to finish it and do what I can. I’m fairly ambitios student and organised. My tips to be a successfull student is to take your education for real. Work and work untill you finish every single homework. My hardest subject is English. I would like to be good at English as well others in here. Hope you lucky

The best tip for being a successful student is listening carefully everything that your teacher has to say (and taking notes of course).

I haven't got super tip, But I wrote all my homework in small notebook or sign the pages then put books in my schoolbag directly. Also I suggest everyone to study exams early. I know everyone say that but it's really useful. So you won't feel bad at exam day and you will obtain a good result.

actually I always do my homework and submit it at time , but when it comes to preparing my exams , I really get a hard time .
I always start to prepare my exams two days before they start and I guess that's not really what I should do
(tell me if there are mistakes)

Hello there, I read once about some method of organizing which you divide a page for four sections 1 : important & urgent 2: important & not urgent
3: unimportant & urgent 4: unimportant & not urgent
By putting stuff in each section , I know which subject I should start with and what to do later

I am more or less organised.
I am more organised when I know what I am going to do.
For example in the weekend I prepared my clothes for the next day at night.

I was not an organised student. I always had to struggle with time and didn't finish my works in time. But after making a list of must-dos at the start of every day, I can oragnise well than before. I should try ur tips .

Hello this is a tip that I sometimes use
Review your classes the same day and prepare the topics for the next day; In this way, refresh the information that serves you to apprehend the new.

I am pretty organised at my homeworks. I saved my things to be done at my phone calendar. It reminds me what should I do. I recomend this method.

PS: Tell me if I had typos or mistakes.

Hi Alicita111. It's great that you are well organised! 'Homework' is an uncountable noun, so you can't pluralise it ('homeworks' is not correct). :)

So, I have a particular way to organize myself. I have a list in my diary with obligations and must-do's. For example, I have to take 10-15 min per day to make some English excersices or anyting else.
(Please tell me, if they are mistakes)

I guess I am an organized student because I do my homework right after I get home.
My tip is to do what you know, then take a break and do the hard part

Hi all, what i found most effective way to learn about any subject/topic is to learn in small pieces and on daily basis. Small increments become large account one day.

I think that I'm organised because I never forget to do my homework or that I have to study. When I start to do homework (in my bedroom) I see what have I got to do on my school diary; then I do a list on a post-it and then I start :-))

Hi ari0601. It sounds like you are super-organised! That's great.

You wrote well :) But on the diary means something is written on the cover, not inside. You should use the preposition in (I see what I have got to do in my diary). And the correct verb is make a list (not do).

Good work and keep commenting :)
